Brazil's First Smart Parking for Motorhomes and Trailers Is in Pomerode (SC)

Developed by LabRetail in partnership with the Santa Catarina startup TRV, the space offers on-demand use of water and electricity for those seeking autonomy, greater sustainability and a safe place to stay during their trip.
A smart parking lot for motorhomes, trailers and caravans in which the use of water and electricity happens on demand, in an economical and sustainable way: this is a solution developed by LabRetail, a company focused on creating technology solution projects for retail and the automotive industry, in partnership with TRV, a booking platform for camping, RV travel and outdoor activities, which is already available in the city of Pomerode (SC). The first smart parking lot developed in Brazil, this smart camping, is autonomous and operates 24 hours a day.
The initiative arrives to boost tourism in the country, which has almost 8 thousand kilometers of coastline to be explored, especially for outdoor activities, nature tourism or adventure tourism. “Interest in sustainable destinations is higher than ever, driven by growing awareness of environmental, social and economic challenges. Even so, when planning an itinerary, many travelers feel discouraged when choosing destinations, mainly because of a lack of safety or inadequate infrastructure. However, we provide total independence and convenience to have water, electricity and security in a simple, hassle-free and economical way. The daily rates are cheaper than those of a regular campground, which usually has no facilities for vehicles,” says Sérgio Silvestre, founding partner and CEO of LabRetail.
Silvestre explains that, when there is no smart parking option, those traveling by trailer or motorhome need to stop at a campground or gas station to rest and refuel, which is sometimes not enough. “These places don't offer the convenience of having water and electricity available. At a campground you pay a daily rate to use a shared bathroom and have to find a solution to fill the motorhome's water tank and charge the vehicle's battery with electricity.”
How does smart parking work?
At the smart parking lot, these resources are available on demand. “The smart camping serves two customer profiles: the first is more conscious and looks for experiences that respect both the environment and local communities. The second recognizes that resources such as water and electricity are controlled and paid for according to demand. They are aware that irresponsible use will have a financial impact, so their behavior ends up being affected, because the platform is discreetly collecting information, since the system shows the user's energy and water consumption in real time, promoting more efficient use of these resources. This reflects in cultural changes and healthy habits.”
